Huadu District

Huadu (花都 区) is a district of the Chinese city of Guangzhou in Guangdong Province. It has an area of 968 km ² and about 610,000 inhabitants ( 2001). The residents of Huadu speak Yueh (Cantonese) and Cantonese ( as part of the Han people ).

Hong Xiuquan (洪秀全, born Hong Renkun洪仁坤) (January 10, 1812 - June 1, 1864 ), a Hakka Chinese who led the Taiping Rebellion, was born in what is now Huadu.

Administrative Divisions

After an administrative reform on May 28, 2005, Huadu is only composed of a road district and seven large municipalities. Seat of the city district government is the road district Xinhua (新华 街道).

At the census in the year 2000 713.363 inhabitants were counted in Huadu.
