Huai River

Basin of the Huai He between Yellow River ( Huang He) in the north and the Yangtze River (Chang Jiang) in the south

The Huai He and Huai River (Chinese淮河, Pinyin Huai He, W.-G. Huai Ho, also Huaiho; mentioned in the underflow Feihuang He [废 黄河] ) is a 1078 km long stream in China ( Asia).

The river rises in the Chinese province of Henan in Tongbai Mountains. From there, its water flows in an easterly direction through the provinces of Anhui and Jiangsu. In the latter be water passes through the Städt Huainan and Bengbu and flows through the Hongze Lake ( Hungtse Lake), of which there is a channel connecting the Yangtze River. A little further east flows through the river - now called Feihuang - directly neighboring cities Huaian and Suqian, after which it reaches the Yellow Sea, a marginal sea of the Pacific.

The Huai was dammed by the Fushan dam, which broke out in 516 to a large reservoir.
