Huamantla

Huamantla ( Nahuatl: Place of roughly together standing trees) is a city in the Mexican state of Tlaxcala in central Mexico. Huamantla was named Pueblo Mágico sogenanntens ( magic city) from SECTUR ( Secretary of Tourism in Mexico).

History

  • Postclassic Period: Otomi migrate from Chiapan, today in the field of Estado de Mexico to Huamantla accordance with the Codex Huamantla.
  • 1847: Battle of Huamantla, during the U.S. invasion of Mexico.

Geography

Huamantla located in the central Mexican plateau to the southwest interrupted by about 15 km away at an inactive volcano Malintzin.

Culture

Huamantla is a Mexican Center for bullfights. In Huamantla also an international festival of puppet shows will take place. At Easter there will be a colorful festival ( Feria ), in which the city's streets are paved with patterns of colored sawdust ( Alfombras de aserrín ).
