Huang Binhong

Huang Binhong (Chinese黄宾虹/黄宾虹, Pinyin Huang Binghong; * 1864, † March 25, 1955 ) was a Chinese painter.

It was in 1864 in the district of Jinhua, Zhejiang Province, was born. As the son of a wealthy businessman, he was educated in the old way and learned from painters in Yangzhou. He opened his own art school in Anhui and later in Shanghai. He made several trips and sketched landscapes, which he used as a template for painting. He mixed the old style and modern realism. His images have a remarkable plasticity. He also turned to poetry. From 1937 to 1948 he taught at the Art Academy in Beijing, then in Hangzhou. In the People's Republic, he was often honored and added to the board of the Union of Artists. He died on 25 March 1955, and bequeathed his extensive works, including ten thousand sketches include, to the State.

Huang Binhong was a member of Xiling Seal Society in Huangzhou.
