Huanjing (satellite)

HJ -1 or Huanjing -1 is the name for a series of Chinese Earth observation satellites. They are to be used primarily for monitoring of environmental changes and climate. At the same time they are used for warning and early detection of natural disasters. The satellite owners are the Chinese National Environmental Protection Agency and the National Civil Protection.

First three satellites are planned for HJ -1, which are divided into two types with different functionality.

Satellite species

• 1A and 1B Huanjing Huanjing as optical satellites.
• Huanjing 1C as a radar satellite.

A total of eleven Huanjing satellites are planned.
