Huatulco

Santa María Huatulco, Huatulco short, is a municipality in the southern Mexican state of Oaxaca. From tourist importance, the sandy beaches of the Pacific are in the bays of Huatulco ( Bahías de Huatulco ).

Huatulco extends along 35 km of shoreline between the mouths of the rivers Coyula and Copalita. Of the nine bays Huatulcos four developed for tourism ( Tangolunda, Conejos, Chahué, Santa Cruz ) and five (San Agustín, Chachacual, Cacaluta, Maguey, Órgano ) are protected under the National Parks Huatulco.

Capital of the municipality is about 20 km from the coast of Santa María Huatulco. Economically important, however, is the location right in the tourist area of ​​Santa Cruz Huatulco, often referred to briefly as la Crucecita.

Since 1983, the region will be developed as planned touristy. To this end, among other things, an international airport was built with connections to the U.S. and Canada.
