Hubbard Street Dance Chicago

Hubbard Street Dance Chicago ( HSDC ) is an American dance group based in Chicago. The New York Times called the group one of the most important dance groups of the American scene and a " poster child for modern choreography". More than 100,000 people attend the performances per year.

The Kompagnie was founded in 1977 by dancer and choreographer Lou Conte, who formed the group until his retirement in 2000 as artistic director. Initially, four, now 22 dancers are part of the ensemble, directed by Jim Vincent is ( artistic director ) and Jason D. Palmquist (Managing Director).

Hubbard Street Dance Chicago has choreography by Jirí Kylián, among other things, Nacho Duato, Ohad Naharin, William Forsythe, Susan Marshall, Christopher Bruce and Daniel Ezralow in the program. The group enters the world at festivals, most recently in April 2007 at the " International Dance Summit 2008" State Ballet Berlin with several appearances at the Deutsche Oper and repeatedly, most recently in 2008 and 2010, the pacemaker Festival in Aachen.

For the promotion of young talent HSDC maintains the Hubbard Street 2 ( HS2 ) in dancers aged 17 to 25 years perform particularly productions of young choreographers.
