Hubert Cecil Booth

Hubert Cecil Booth ( born July 4, 1871 in Gloucester / Gloucestershire, † January 12, 1955 in Purley Surrey ) was an English engineer.

He designed and patented (only in England) in 1901, the vacuum cleaner, which was transported in the early stages of horse and buggy to better-off customers. There was sucked with long hoses dust. However, he did not have much commercial success. His former company, the Booth Vacuum Cleaner Company, produced to date (2006) industrial vacuum cleaner. As chief engineer, he was later instrumental in the construction of the Ferris wheel in the Prater.
