Hubert Neuper

Hubert Neuper ( born September 29, 1960 in Bad Aussee) is a former Austrian ski jumper. Today, he works as a sports manager.

Career

1979/80 he won the Four Hills Tournament and this season was also winner of this winter inaugural FIS Ski Jumping World Cup. The following winter he won the Tour again in the World Cup he finished fourth. At the Olympic Games in Lake Placid in 1980, the Nordic World Ski Championships 1982 in Oslo he won a silver medal. In the 1983/84 season he reached again the second place in the overall standings. His last World Cup competition he played on January 6, 1985 at the Four Hills Tournament in Bischofshofen. At a young age he had counted together with Armin Kogler already the root of the Austrian ski jumping team to wonder Karl Schnabl, Anton Innauer, Alois Lipburger and Willi Pürstl, the Professor Baldur Preiml in the early '70s formed. Hubert Neuper and Armin Kogler prolonged the success story of the Austrian national ski jumping team well into the 80s. Neuper reached 50 top ten finishes in major ski events 1977 until 1985.

After his career end Neuper worked in his profession as a flight pilot and at the same time led a ski school. In 1996 he was the organizer of the Ski Flying World Championships in Bad Mitterndorf / Tauplitz. Between 1997 and 2000 Neuper was Managing Director of the Austrian Sports Aid. In this capacity, he called the World Sports Awards of the Century in life. These sports gala was held at the Vienna State Opera on 19 November 1999. A jury, chaired by the former IOC president Juan Antonio Samaranch has named this occasion, the greatest athletes of the century. From this event, the World Sports Awards Foundation Foundation another gala with many sports celebrities showed their behalf Neuper 2001 in London organized. In the following years this gala series has been merged with the Laureus Awards, which are now awarded annually in Monte Carlo. Neuper has a seat on the board of the associated foundation. He is also Managing Director of Neuper Group GmbH, which organizes the annual World Cup ski jumping at Kulm.

Hubert Neuper is married since 1984 and has two daughters. In 2003 he published his autobiography under the title Flatline.
