Hubometer

The English term Hubodometer ( German Nabenhodometer ) denotes an odometer of the effective mileage of semi-trailers, trailers, wheels, brakes, wheel bearings, etc. independently measured from the towing vehicle. In semi-trailers, it is mounted on a non- liftable axle.

Principle

The Hubodometer has an eccentric weight, which is about perpendicular by gravity and does not rotate with the axle. Thus, the revolutions of the wheel can be measured without direct connection to the frame and transferred to a mechanical counter which indicates the mileage in kilometers.
