Huechuraba

Huechuraba is a commune in Chile. It is part of Greater Santiago and is located at the northern edge of town. It has about 74,000 inhabitants.

Already in the 16th century, the region whose translation means from the language of the Mapuche " birthplace of the sound", the conquistador Pedro de Valdivia was bestowed. His mistress Inés de Suárez Swabia built a chapel dedicated to the Virgin of Montserrat. Was urbanized north of Santiago in the late 19th century, the population strongly de mid 20th century grew.
