Hugh II, Duke of Burgundy

Hugh II called the Peaceable (French Hugues II le Pacifique, probably * 1085, † 1143 probably shortly after 6 February), was Duke of Burgundy from 1103 to 1143.

He was the son and heir of the Duke Odo I. and the Sibyl of Burgundy. He took over the regency already 1101 the duchy, when his father departed for the crusade of 1101. When his father died in the course of the crusade, he succeeded him as Duke.

He struggled in 1109 under King Louis VI. against the English king Henry I, then against Emperor Henry V, who was in 1124 occurred in the Champagne region.

These two episodes beyond that took place outside his duchy, there was little conflict in his domain, thereby extending earned his nickname.
