Hugh Johnson OBE ( born March 10, 1939 in London ) is an English wine critic.

Life

Hugh Johnson was born in St John 's Wood, London, the son of a lawyer. He grew up in London and Kent. Johnson attended a boarding school in the English rugby and studied at King 's College, Cambridge English Studies. Later he worked for the magazine Vogue, House & Garden, and publisher of Wine & Food magazines, where he took over the editorship of wine criticism.
