Hugh Jones (producer)

Hugh Jones belongs with John Leckie to the main British producer of the 1980s in the New Wave and the guitar pop. He started as an engineer on the early albums of the Simple Minds. He later became known as the longtime producer of Echo & The Bunnymen, and through his work with The Sound, James, Del Amitri, The Icicle Works, The Colour Field, and Siouxsie and the Banshees a name. Also in the 1990s he was involved as a producer and mixer at a number of important LPs of the genre, such as on most albums of the Bluetones and several in the UK commercially very successful Dodgy LPs, also on the second LP of the Charlatans. He works today as a producer.

With David Balfe and Troy Tate of The Teardrop Explodes, he took under the name The Turquoise Swimming Pools on the pieces The Winds and burst balloons for the Compilation To the Shores of Lake Placid on Balfes label Zoo. Jones played guitar here.
