Hugh of Tours

Hugo of Tours (c. 780; † October 20 837, buried in Monza ) was probably a son of Count Haicho from the House of Etichonen and thus a great-grandson of the Duke of Alsace Eticho; is certain that he was a descendant Etichos. The branch of the family, at whose head he stands is called Liutfriden.

He had at first mainly in Alsace possession, was then under Emperor Louis the Pious Count of Tours and probably also Count of Sens, and thus in possession of two of the most important counties of the Frankish Empire. In addition, he was bailiff of the convent St- Julien- d'Auxerre.

811 he was one of the imperial envoys of Charlemagne in Constantinople Opel. 821 married his daughter Ermengarde Charlemagne 's grandson, the future Emperor Lothar I. Its meaning is also the fact that it is listed in the 824 Reichenauer brotherhood book as the first Count. 827 he led the Frankish army of relief on the campaign against the Moors in the Barcelona area.
