Hugh Riminton

Hugh Riminton (* 1961 in Sri Lanka) is a New Zealand journalist and television presenter. Riminton is mainly known for his moderation of the main news broadcast of the news channel CNN, " CNN Today".

Life and work

Riminton grew up in New Zealand. His journalistic career began in 1978 in Christchurch. In 1983 he moved to Australia, where he worked in Perth and Melbourne for the Macquarie Radio Network. At Macquarie University in Sydney, he earned a Masters degree in " Peacekeeping Policy" (such as " peace-keeping policy ").

In 1989, Riminton a job in the Australian television station Australian Nine Network whose outer correspondent in London, he was in 1991. 2001 Riminton who has been reported as a journalist for more than 30 countries, was the presenter of Channel Nine's evening news program " Nightline ."

In 2004 he moved to CNN, where he reported, among other things, from Sri Lanka on the tsunami disaster of 2004.

Awards

Over the years Riminton has received several awards for his work, so the Logie Award (1996) for his coverage of the independence movement in Tahiti and the Walkley Award for his reports on the coup d'etat on the Fijiinseln 2000. Nominations for this award he received 1998, 1999 and 2003 for his reports from Papua New Guinea, Kosovo, Sudan and Iraq.
