Hugo Karl Anton Pernice

Hugo Karl Anton Pernice ( born November 9, 1829 in Halle ( Saale), † December 31, 1901 in Greifswald ) was a German physician and professor of gynecology at the University of Greifswald.

Pernice was born in Halle, the son of the jurist Ludwig Wilhelm Anton Pernice. After schooling at the Gymnasium of the Francke Foundations, he studied medicine in Halle, Göttingen (where he was a member of the Corps Hannovera Göttingen) and Greifswald. Pernice received in 1858 a reputation as a professor from Halle to Greifswald. He was until 1899 Director of Obstetric and gynecological clinic. He was also the first chairman of the Medical Association, founded in 1863 Greifswald. His son Erich Pernice was a renowned classical archaeologist.
