Hugo von Trimberg

Hugo von Trimberg (* 1230 in Wern (a ), now top and Niederwerrn; † after 1313 in Bamberg Theuerstadt ) was a universally educated didactic writers of the late Middle Ages.

He was from 1260 to 1309 rector of the spiritual monastery of St. Gangolf in Bamberg suburb Theuerstadt.

Hugo wrote Latin fonts to use for preachers, saints ' biographies and a list of Old and Middle Latin authors. His main work is the epic resulting 1296-1313 The Runner. The 24,600 verses comprehensive work has been handed the most comprehensive didactic poem in German language and in several manuscripts and many processed.

An abridged ( text version Bx3 ) and linguistically modernized version was printed in 1549 by Cyriac Jacob for Bock in Frankfurt am Main.
