Huka Falls

The Huka Falls are a cascade of waterfalls of the Waikato River near its origin in Lake Taupo in New Zealand. You are in the Taupo district, a few kilometers north of Taupo.

The first 100 m wide river squeezes it into a narrow, 15 m wide canyon and rinsed average 140,000 liters per second through the various stages to eventually fall 11 m deep over the cliff.

A popular tourist attraction are jetboat rides to the foot of the waterfall.

The waterfalls were long considered unbeschifflich, but in 1981, the kayaker Greg Oke and Nick Kerkham were first successfully at a lower water level.
