Hülchrath is an approximately 720 inhabitants counting village in the city Grevenbroich in Rhein-Kreis Neuss.

Location

The district Hülchrath on the east by the Strategic embankment and the town of Neukirchen ( Grevenbroich ). To the south west of Hülchrath not far Langwaden lies with the eponymous monastery. Northwest of Hülchrath are the village Mühlrath that Neubrücker mill and the place Neubrückenstraße. North of Hülchrath the location is situated Münchrath and a little further Erftstraße.

Directly east of Hülchrath the small hamlet Jägerhof connects. It is located at the intersection of State Road 142 and County Road 33

History

In 1583 the town was destroyed during the war, the Sewer. 1608 the present site was refounded east of the castle as spots and equipped with special privileges. Between 1590 and 1630 there were numerous witch trials at Castle Hülchrath. During the Thirty Years' War, in 1642 castle place and Hülchrath were besieged and destroyed again in the year. 1794 French troops occupied Hülchrath and dissolved the Electorate of Cologne office. It was the Mairie Hülchrath the Département de la Roer. 1798, the castle was sold to the last Hülchrath Electoral Cologne bailiff. 1815 Hülchrath came to the Kingdom of Prussia. A year later the mayor Hülchrath was formed. It consisted of the villages Hülchrath, Gubisrath, Münchrath, Mühlrath, Neukirchen, Hoisten, bacon, Wehl, Weckhoven and Helpenstein. 1909, the seat of the mayor of the municipality Hülchrath was moved to Neukirchen. When the municipality Hülchrath 1929 came to the county Grevenbroich- Neuss, it was renamed the town of Neukirchen.

From 1937 to 1945, the Nazis used the castle Hülchrath. From here, the werewolf attack on the Aachen Mayor Franz Oppenhoffallee was started. On December 31, 1974, the town of Neukirchen was disbanded, and on 1 January 1975 was the incorporation Hülchraths in the city Grevenbroich.

Catholic Church
