Givanildo Vieira de Souza, better known as Hulk, ( born July 25, 1986 in Campina Grande ) is a Brazilian footballer. He plays for Zenit Saint Petersburg in the Russian Premjer League. He is known for his powerful left shot and sophisticated technology. His nickname Hulk he has from his time at Tokyo Verdy because of its body-hugging style of play and in relation to the green jersey of the Japanese club team. Previously, he had played under his name " Givanildo ".

Career

Career in Portugal and Japan

His professional career began in Brazil at the 2005 Hulk EC Vitória and changed even in the current season to Japan Kawasaki Frontale. There he completed eleven games with a hit. In 2006 he was awarded to Consadole Sapporo, who played in the J. League Division 2. This season he scored 25 goals in 38 games. The following season, he was awarded again, this time to Tokyo Verdy. With 37 goals, he was involved in the revival of the club in the J. League Division 1. In early 2008 moved Hulk firmly Tokyo Verdy.

FC Porto

In the summer transfer window 2008, he left the club to Portugal to FC Porto for a transfer fee of 19 million euros. The contract was for four seasons. There, he scored in 99 league games 54 goals.

Zenit St. Petersburg

On September 3, 2012 Hulk changed for over 50 million euros to the Russian first division club Zenit St Petersburg. He signed a five-year contract and received the shirt number 29 ( currently wear the number 7). On May 5, 2013 Hulk scored in a 4-0 home win against Alania Vladikavkaz the first hat-trick at Zenit jersey.

Others

On 20 December 2009 he was involved after the match against Benfica with other players in a brawl with a folder. He was then suspended for four months. However, the lock by the Portuguese Football Federation was subsequently reduced to three games. The president of the Portuguese Football League Loureiro resigned then to protest against an alleged preference for FC Porto.

In 2012 he took part with the Olympic Team at the Olympic Games in London, in which Brazil wanted to win for the first time the gold medal. In the final, Brazil but was defeated with 1:2 of the Mexican team. Hulk came in five of six games for use in the finale and scored in stoppage time to score for Brazil.
