Hull–Rust–Mahoning Open Pit Iron Mine

The growth of the mining -related relocation of the city of Hibbing. The move began in 1919 and was completed in 1921. More than 519 million tons of tailings and 690 million tonnes of iron ore were transported from the main area of ​​the pit since production began in 1895. The mine was registered as a National Historic Landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Places on November 13, 1966. The mine is still in operation and therefore only has a visitor center accessible.
