The video portal Hulu is an Internet platform with a free video-on -demand service without registration. Television series, feature films and trailers of the American media companies NBC, FOX, ABC and other providers will be streamed in Flash video format. Hulu.com is a joint venture of NBC Universal, Fox Entertainment Group and Disney-ABC Television Group and is currently available only to users with American IP address.

2009 said Chase Carey, deputy chairman of the News Corporation that Hulu would soon introduce a paid model. On 17 November 2010, Hulu Plus, an additional payment service introduced, which provides a greater number of content from the existing television shows its users. Hulu Plus is available on various platforms: Apple TV, Blu -ray players, smart TVs, smartphones and tablets, game consoles (Wii, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360), Roku Streaming Player and WD TV Media Player.

In summer 2011 it was announced that the current owners want to sell the platform and therefore are in talks with Yahoo, Microsoft and Google. The sales process was halted in the fall of 2011, among other things because Hulu could offer no long-term use rights of the video content and the owners of the price offered was too low.
