Human Brain Project

The Human Brain Project is a major project of the European Commission, which is to unite the entire knowledge of the human brain and simulate by means of computer -based models and simulations. As a result, new knowledge about the human brain and its diseases as well as new computer and robot technologies are expected.

Project objectives

The Human Brain Project will provide new tools available to better understand the brain and its underlying mechanisms and to apply this knowledge in medicine and computer science of the future.

Information and communication technologies will play a central role in the project. There are suitable supercomputing platforms are designed to prepare neuroscientific data from around the world for models and simulations of the brain. Thus a common basis in order to connect information at the level of genes, molecules, and cells with the thinking and behavior of the people for neuroscience.

In a similar manner to a novel medical computer science platform make clinical information from all over the world for computer models of diseases used in order to develop techniques for the objective diagnosis of brain disorders, to investigate the mechanisms underlying them and to accelerate the development of new therapies.
