Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority

The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority ( HFEA ), German: Office of Human Fertilisation and Embryology is the regulatory and supervisory authority for all hospitals in the UK that carry out artificial insemination ( in vitro fertilization) or insemination, as well as for all seed -, ova or embryo banks in the country. The HFEA is also responsible for the approval and monitoring of all conducted in the United Kingdom research on human embryos. Furthermore, the HFEA also submit proposals for necessary changes in their view of the law of artificial insemination in the UK legislation instances.

It is organizationally speaking, a public entity that is not directly integrated into the structures of the Ministry (Non- Departmental Public Body ), but is assigned to the Department of Health (Department of Health ).
