Human Rights Act 1998

The Human Rights Act 1998 is an Act of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, which was adopted in 1998 and entered into force on 1 October 2000. It specifies that all human rights, which are enshrined in the European Convention on Human Rights, expressly apply to the United Kingdom. It abolished the death penalty, among other things explicitly from which de facto is no longer being considered, however. The Section 4 gives the judges the opportunity for incompatibility of a law with the European Convention on Human Rights to issue a declaration of incompatibility (English Declaration of Incompatibility ). The Parliament, however, is not required by law to change the law.
