Humbaba

Humbaba (pronounced Humbaba ), early also Huwawa, is in the Sumerian mythology the guardian of the cedar forest of Lebanon. It occurs in several Sumerian myths, for example, in the Gilgamesh epic.

Gilgamesh and Enkidu make jointly to accomplish a feat and kill Humbaba to fell in the forest of cedars Inanna. After a long struggle, supported by Šamaš, they can kill Humbaba and cut down the cedars. About the battle are multiple versions, which represent the different course.
