The Humbach in Cottendorf

The Humbach is a six kilometer long tributary of the River Ilm in ( Thuringia) Ilm-Kreis.

Course

The source of the Humbachs lying in a meadow north-east of Ilmenau just east of the A71 - exit Ilmenau -Ost in the district Bücheloh. Below the village, it forms a valley in which the B 87 and the Humbachsteiche lie.

The Humbachsteiche are artificial, rectangular ponds that serve priority fish farming. About the valley already runs the 290 -meter-long Humbachtalbrücke that belongs to the route of the future high speed line high speed line Nuremberg -Erfurt.

The Humbach now flows in an easterly direction and flows Cottendorf in the Ilm.

Name Meaning
