Humberto Selvetti

Humberto Selvetti ( born March 31, 1932 in Wilde, Buenos Aires, † 1992) was an Argentine weightlifter.

Life

For many, even connoisseurs of the weightlifting scene, surprisingly, a 20 year young Argentines appeared in 1952 at the Olympic Games in Helsinki in the heavyweight division, who looked with his thick mustache as a 30 -year-old. His name was Humberto Selvetti and continued a tradition that began as early as 1932 at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles Argentine weightlifter. Selvetti did his job excellently and won with 432.5 kg in the Olympic triathlon the bronze medal, which he so the German Heinz Schattner snatched.

Four years later, at the Olympic Games in Melbourne, his great sensation had almost managed to beat the big favorites Paul Anderson from the United States. Only 1.5 kg, the Selvetti was heavier than Anderson, decided at the same three-way battle power of 500 kg the fight in favor of Anderson.

In his further career Selvetti, the meat producer was not reached, the 500 -kg limit.
