Humphrey Campbell

Humphrey Campbell ( born February 28, 1958) is a Dutch singer and music producer of Surinamese origin.

In his Surinamese home Campbell won a music competition in 1973, as the price was followed by a tour of Europe. He was then in the Netherlands, where he was the song I really love you, published in 1975. Until 1980, followed by other songs. From 1982 he studied at the Conservatory in Hilversum. Yet his major was singing, as a minor, he finished piano. In 1989 he participated in the musical A night at the cotton club, among others, Ruth Jacott and Denise Jannah. In 1992 he participated with success in the Nationaal Song Festival part, the Dutch preselection for the Euro Vision Song Contest 1992. With the song Wijs me de away ( to German Show me the way, written by Edwin Schimscheiner ), he won six points clear at the singer Laura Vlasblom. He was the Dutch representative at the competition in which he reached the ninth. Both the national and the international finals he stepped on it with his brothers Carlo and Ben as well as the composer Edwin Schimscheiner on accordion. In the following year he accompanied Ruth Jacott the Euro Vision Song Contest 1993.

Wijs me de way should remain his most successful song, other songs by him could not be placed in the Dutch charts. Together with his brothers Carlo and Charles he made from 1997 ( after he had in previous years, excelled primarily as a producer) for a short time the group CC Campbell. Souls in harmony - - It an album has been released, but could not place in the charts themselves. Only the singles My girl and spread the news could enter in the squares 91 and 100 in the charts.
