Hungarian Democratic Forum

The Hungarian Democratic Forum (Hungarian: Magyar Fórum Demokrata, MDF) was a Hungarian party with a conservative orientation.

After the political changes in Hungary MDF reached 24.73 % of the vote and placed the first freely elected government under Prime Minister József Antall. However, not least because of various spin-offs from the MDF Deputies lost in the years after Antall died in 1993 in importance and votes. In the parliamentary elections of April 2006, the party crossed with 5.04 % of the vote just under five-percent hurdle and formed with the larger Fidesz, the Hungarian parliamentary opposition. After the 2009 European elections, the party was expelled from the Christian Democratic European People's Party, as its only member of the European Parliament of the national conservative ECR Group joined.

The party was conservative in social issues, and economic liberal on economic issues. They fully endorsed the market economy and wanted a reduction in public spending and corporate and personal income tax. They also called for the introduction of the flat tax.

In the 2010 general election, she joined a coalition with the SZDSZ, whose candidates now competed on the list of MDF. The MDF scored only 2.66% of the vote and won no seats in parliament. 2011 broke up the party. Your conservative voter base they had previously lost to Fidesz.
