Hussainia

A Hussainia (Arabic حسينية, DMG Ḥusainīya; persian حسینیه also referred to as Ashurkhana or Imambargah ) is an assembly hall for ritual ceremonies of the Shiites, especially for those in connection with the commemoration of Muharram: the name of the place derives from Husain ibn ʿ Alī, grandson of the Prophet Mohammed and the third Imam of the Shia. Husain (now Iraq) killed by the Umayyad Caliph Yazid I. at the battle of Karbala. On this "Day of Karbala ," the Ashura (the tenth day of the Islamic month of Muharram), the Shiites commemorate the death of Husayn.
