Hussein Kulmiye Afrah

Hussein Kulmiye Afrah ( Somali: Xuseen Kulmiye Afrax, Arabic أفراح حسين; * 1920, † before 2007 ) is a Somali politician and general.

Afrah graduated before 1945 during the Italian colonial period of Italian Somaliland police training at an Italian Academy in Rome. In the period 1950-1954 he was an instructor at the Police Academy in Mogadishu. From 1960, after independence from Somalia, he was adjutant of the first President of Somalia Aden Abdullah Osman Daar and was promoted to major general.

Afrah was a member of the Central Committee of the Somali Revolutionary Socialist Party since 1976. Later he was in the Somali Democratic Republic of the Vice President in the era of Siad Barre who ruled from 1969 to 1991, and was the second President of Somalia. After the overthrow of the Siad Barre government and the outbreak of civil war in Somalia Afrah, similar to many other politicians and military was not arrested or deported.
