Hutton Inquiry

The government was much more relieved in the report, as it had expected most observers, as previously following conjectures had been raised and partially confirmed:

  • The wording of the dossier had been amended within the available intelligence on the suggestion of Tony Blair's press adviser Alastair Campbell, that a strong possible reason for war there.

Conclusions

  • The accusation of Andrew Gilligan was not sound and that the processes within the BBC have defects.
  • The dossier was not glossed over, but corresponded to the present at the time documents, although could not be ruled out that intelligence institutions had been " subconsciously " influenced by the government.

Following the publication of the results in January 2004 in the Hutton report, the BBC apologized several times with Prime Minister Tony Blair.
