Hvide Sande

History

Prior to the municipal reform of 2007 was the site of part of the strip of land commune, which has been merged with the municipalities Ringkøbing, Skjern, Videbæk and Egvad to Ringkøbing -Skjern municipality.

Tourist interest is the daily fish auction in the harbor in the morning at seven clock. The local fishing museum " Fiskeriets Hus " shows about 400 m² of exhibition space, regional marine fauna.

A few kilometers north is the village of Nørre Lyngvig where 1906 Lyngvig Lighthouse was built. He is one with a height of 38 m and a height of fire of 53 m to the highest lighthouses in Denmark. The lighthouse was automated in 1965.

To the south is the Museum Abelines Gaard. This country homestead from 1854 gives an impression of living conditions in the strip of land Klit region in earlier times. In 1996 the Museum for outstanding achievements in the field of conservation of cultural heritage was awarded the Europa Nostra Award.
