Hvozdec (Brno-Country District)

Hvozdec ( German Hoschtetz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located 15 kilometers northwest of the city center of Brno at the outskirts and belongs to Okres Brno- venkov.

Geography

Hvozdec located in the highlands Bobravská the natural park Údolí Bílého potoka along the creek Bily Potok and Nature Park Podkomorske lesy right side of the creek Hlinka. To the east lies in Svratkatal the Brno Dam and the North East, the castle Veveří. To the south there is the Brno Circuit. To the east rises the Vrtačka (405 m), in the southeastern Lipový vrch ( 478 m) and in the northwest the Ostra (430 m).

Neighboring towns are Holasice, Veverská Bítýška and Chudčice in the north, Nový Dvůr and Rozdrojovice in the northeast, Kníničky in the east, Bystrc and Žebětín the southeast, Ostrovačice Říčany in the south, Veverské Knínice the southwest, Domašov and Javůrek in the west and Maršov and Lažánky in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1317 as the widow of the Fas Lomnice, Catherine, the farm and the village Hvozdec the Dominican convent of St.. Anna gave in Old Brno. 1772 was an outbreak of rotting fever epidemic in Hvozdec and the Castle Veveří about 40 people died from the. As part of the Josephine reforms was on May 2, 1782 Novodevichy Convent of St. Anna lifted. The Good Hvozdec fell to the religious fund, which placed it under the administration of the estate Blažovice. Since the end of the 19th century, the local name Hvozdec was used. 1894 a schoolhouse was built. In 1902 the village was connected via a connecting road to the east extending district road from Ostrovačice after Veverská Bítýška. 1905 came the village to the district Tischnowitz. In 1909, founded the volunteer fire department. In the census of 1921 330 people lived in Hvozdec. The direct road link to Veverská Bítýška was produced in 1928. Between 1948 and 1960 the village belonged to Okres Brno- okolí, then to Okres Brno- venkov. The school was closed in 1965. In 1974, disbanded the fire department. 1980, the annexation to Veverská Bítýška. Since 1990 Hvozdec is self again.
