Hybrid computer

As a hybrid computer history computer systems are known which use a combination of elements of analog and digital computers, and so combine the advantages of both technologies. Towards the end of the 1960s they were increasingly developed and used in scientific and technological sector. The main constituents of these electronics are analog-to- digital converter and their counterparts, digital -to-analog converter.

Areas of application:

  • Boundary and eigenvalue problems
  • Simulation and optimization of complex dynamic systems
  • Other mathematical relationships that can be numerically ( ie digital) only solve cumbersome or punctual

The last hybrid computer applies the Dornier 960
