Hydroplane (boat)

Unlimited Hydroplanes is a racing boat class that is driven almost exclusively in the United States. In Europe such boats were never at the start.

For use are oversized three -pointer that were previously driven by huge V -12 engines, nowadays predominantly of gas turbines ( turbine shaft ). The propulsion is nevertheless performed mainly by the propeller in the water.

The boats traditionally all called "Miss " followed by the name of the sponsor. Best known are "Miss Budweiser ", which was built multiple new over the decades, and "Miss Madison " from the film.

The absolute speed record for propeller-driven boats holds since 2004 the Americans Dave Villwock with "Miss Budweiser ". He managed to 354.86 km / h Fast only to boats without a propeller driven by a jet engine (since 1978 with 511.11 km / h ).
