Hyginus (crater)

8.7

Hyginus is an impact crater on the lunar front side on the border between sine Medii and Mare Vaporum, northeast of the crater Triesnecker and northwest of Agrippa. The relatively small crater lies in the approximate center of the moon groove Rima Hyginus, largely otherwise runs straight. The crater floor is level.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Roman Gaius Julius Hyginus scholars.
