Hymecromone (INN), and 4- methylumbelliferone, a methyl- derivative of umbelliferone.
It is used as a drug (as choleretic and musculotropic spasmolytic ) and as light or sunscreens because it absorbs ultraviolet radiation. It is also used in the fluorescence analysis.
