Hymenorrhaphy

The Hymenalrekonstruktion (or Revirgination ) is a medical procedure in which a damaged or missing hymen is restored. The hymen has no biological function in adult women, a Hymenalrekonstruktion therefore strictly of social and cultural reasons.

Since the bride's virginity is considered very important prerequisite for marriage in some cultures, sometimes offers a Hymenalrekonstruktion in such cultures the only way to satisfy this condition. It is based on the still widespread misconception that the hymen can be used as proof of virginity.

Data of a Hymenrekonstruktion are not stored in the currently mostly performed in the Netherlands elaborate reconstructions, and thus no finding is also based on data possible. In Germany, many hospitals are already specialized in the reconstruction.

The reconstruction also describes the operational practice of hymen tissue thickening. If desired, thus a cosmetically mounted excluded from blood flow membrane having a capsule implantation is provided, in addition to the natural tissue voltage / resistance an artificial, blood -like substance, consisting of red gelatin releasing during the process of penetration. In a study of the blood, this substance can be detected.

In contrast to Hymenrekonstruktion with Blutkapilaren, which presupposes a vaginal abstinence for up to 3 months at the hymen tissue thickening only a few days' rest are required. This is therefore often taken advantage of a few days before a planned wedding. The procedure can be easily detected by a gynecologist, however.
