Hymenoscyphus albidus

The White Stengelbecherchen ( Hymenoscyphus albidus ) is a falllaubzersetzende fungal species from the sub-division of the Real Ascomycota. Hymenoscyphus albidus lives on the blade spindles of discarded ash leaves and is often in wet ash forests. Its fruiting bodies are white cup-shaped apothecia with a size of 2 to 7 mm. The species was first described in 1851 as Peziza albida.

From 2008 to 2010 the White Stengelbecherchen for the teleomorph of known as the causative agent of ash dieback Anamorphic Chalara fraxinea was held.

2010, the newly discovered teleomorph of C. fraxinea was first described. This fungus is similar to the pore size morphologically the White Stengelbecherchen and must be distinguished from him only by molecular genetic methods. He was given the name Hymenoscyphus pseudoalbidus or wrong White Stengelbecherchen.
