Hype Williams

Harold " Hype " Williams (born 1970 in New York City ) is an American video director and film director.

Williams began his career as an art director. His first work was the design and sets for the first music video from TLC Is not 2 Proud 2 Beg in 1991. First time he directed the music video Can It All Be So Simple by Wu -Tang Clan in 1993. According to this and following also very successful video projects became Williams as the highest paid and most sought after video director in the late 1990s.

In 1998, Williams debut as a director for the film Belly, in which, among other well-known hip-hop greats such as DMX and Nas took on a role.

The video is quasi 2- each divided: There is a background video, which is present in normal 4:3 format, often a close-up of performers and a second video that is placed in a 16:9 format and about the main plot involves.
