Balearic St. John's wort (Hypericum balearicum )

The Balearic St. John's wort (Hypericum balearicum ) is a species of the genus of locust herbs ( Hypericum ) in the family of St. John's wort plants ( Hypericaceae ).

Features

The Balearic St. John's wort is a well-branched shrub that reaches the plant height to 120 centimeters. The branches are ascending, leafy tight against constantly and square in the young state. They are like the leaves trimmed with large resinous glands, whereby the surface acts warty. The leaves are sessile, schmaleiförmig, wavy edge, 10 to 12 mm long and 6-8 mm wide. The flowers are single, terminal, colored bright yellow and about 4 inches wide. The sepals are up to 6 mm in length and is intended for fruit time. The petals are about three times as long as the calyx. The numerous stamens are yellow colored and arranged in five clusters. The ovary is above earth and has 5 pen. The fruit is a sticky glossy, ovate and pointed capsule.

Bloom time is from May to September.

Occurrence

The Balearic St. John's wort is found in the Balearic Islands with the exception of Formentera, in Italy it has run wild in Liguria. It grows in dry, open woods and on rocky.
