Hypertrophic pulmonary osteoarthropathy
In hypertrophic osteoarthropathy is a rare disease with painful swelling, especially in the area of the diaphysis of the long bones ( the extremities) and drumstick -like widening of the fingers and toes and Uhrglasnägeln.
Sometimes joint investments occur. Vasomotor disorders of the hands and feet may be provided. Neurovegetative disorders and a dysproteinaemia be mentioned. Preferably affected are men before midlife.

Bamberger described the disease in 1889 for the first time in detail and referred to the connection between the typical broadening of the fingers and toes, and lung and heart disease. Marie worked in 1890, the differences for acromegaly out. Since the symptom complex was first described in 1868 by Nikolaus Friedreich in the brothers Karl and Wilhelm Hagner, it is also known as Hagner 's syndrome, the very rare familial frequent occurrence after Boris Nikitich Mankowsky as Mankowsky syndrome.
Causes
Since lung tumors can be a cause of Marie- Bamberger 's syndrome and over 90 % of cases are associated with a non-small cell lung carcinoma, the Marie- Bamberger syndrome is also known as paraneoplastic syndrome and must be the occasion of a corresponding investigation in the diagnosis.
Differentialdignostisch must be connected to other chronic lung diseases such as cystic fibrosis, tuberculosis, bronchiectasis, pulmonary fibrosis, rarely on diseases of the heart and the liver ( cirrhosis), but also thought of inflammatory bowel diseases ( ulcerative colitis) and optionally thereafter sought.
