Hypervigilance

Hypervigilance is a term used in psychology for increased alertness. It can be popular also called vigilance. It is thus the opposite of hypovigilance, the term for increased sleepiness. Hypervigilance can conceptually be used as well for increased attention hypovigilance as a term for decreased attention. Both forms called the general designation vigilance.

Context

Hypervigilance is one of the symptoms that occur with obsessive-compulsive disorder or posttraumatic stress disorder (ICD - 10 - International Classification of Diseases, F 43.1 post-traumatic stress disorder ). Hypovigilance can be associated with hypnagogic hallucinations, drugged, affecting the vigilance and observed under sleep deprivation or delirium with disturbances of consciousness and disorders of the day -night rhythm.
