Hypoesthesia

As hypoesthesia hypoesthesia or a localized or general reduction of touch and pressure sensitivity of the skin is called. It is often, but not always, with a disturbance of pain perception ( hypoalgesia ), temperature perception ( Thermhypästhesie ) and the vibration and position sensation ( Pallhypästhesie ) associated. A reduction on only one side of the body is called Hemihypästhesie, whereas a complete sensory loss is called anesthesia. A related and often simultaneously occurring symptom is paresthesia, are at the perceived discomfort when touched.

The hypästhetische area are the neurologist evidence of the Lesion: It corresponds to the case of peripheral nerve damage to the supply area of the corresponding nerve; with nerve root irritation ( radiculopathy ) the analog dermatome.

The reasons are damage to the skin itself as a sensory organ (such as burns ), peripheral nerves ( polyneuropathy ), the nerve plexus ( traffic accident ), emerging from the spinal nerve roots ( herniated disc ) or, often in the context of cerebral infarction, the ascending pathways to the brain ( Lemniskales system ), the thalamus or the central processing in the Somatosensory Cortex in question. Hypoesthesia are also possible as a symptom of poisoning states or reduced blood flow (ischemia ) of the skin.
