Hypothenar eminence

The hypothenar is a Muskelwulst in the palm side of the metacarpal of the little finger or Elle side ( ulnar ). It serves as a protective cushion for the running there nerves ( ulnar nerve ) and vessels. The muscular basis of the hypothenar are the abductor digiti minimi, the flexor digiti minimi brevis and opponens digiti minimi musculus. Be Innervated the muscles of the hypothenar eminence, as well as its sensitive shares, by the deep branch ( ramus profundus ) of the ulnar nerve.

On the thumb side of the hypothenar the thenar is opposite, with whom he forms a cushion when grasping objects.
