I Dreamed a Dream (album)

I Dreamed a Dream is published on 23 November 2009, the first studio album of Susan Boyle and also the name of the corresponding single. It has been awarded in the UK with seven times platinum in the U.S. with four times multi-platinum and has sold in the first two months of the publication about eight million times.

Formation

Already during the current issue of the 2009 UK talent show Britain's Got Talent Simon Cowell offered her had a record deal, regardless of whether she wins or not. After she had taken second place, she signed a contract with Cowell's label Syco. Initially it was planned to include a selection of Broadway hits with an orchestra in the Czech Republic. Success

The album is the best selling album of 2009 worldwide and sold in just the first four weeks of release around 6.2 million times. With an average of 1.55 million albums sold per week, it terminated the previously held by Michael Jackson for his Thriller album sales record. Never before has so often been pre-ordered as I Dreamed a Dream album when online retailer Amazon.com. It reached worldwide in many countries, the top ten of the album charts and was in countries such as Britain, the U.S., Canada, Australia, Greece, Ireland, Switzerland and the Netherlands # 1 on the charts.

Reviews

The reviews were mixed. Stephen Thomas Erlewine of Allmusic called the album as " sleepy, reserved and cozy ." The album satisfy those listeners who are attracted by Boyle's voice or their history, but not those who expect more. Katja Bath Baby by laut.de makes the particular personality of Susan Boyle responsible for ensuring that it is a good album and says that it is " awful schmaltzy and touchingly beautiful " is. Writes Adrian Edwards of BBC Music that Boyle with this album the transformation was succeeded by the talent show Star for a first-class recording artist, the prestigious record label was worthy.
