I Muvrini

I Muvrini is the most popular music group in Corsica. It was founded in 1977 and consists of the brothers Alain Bernardini, Jean -François Bernardini and other musicians. The first album of the group appeared in 1979.

I Muvrini ( Corsican for " mouflon " ), are in the tradition of Corsican folk music, especially the polyphonic Paghjella; as an accompaniment they use piano, bagpipes, guitar, violin, hurdy-gurdy, keyboards and drums. The group sings primarily on Corsican and French.

The brothers Bernardini come from the village Taglio- Isolaccio in Castagniccia in the northeast of the island from a musical family. They were performed with Sting, Stephan Eicher and the French rapper MC Solaar on the stage and worked with international artists of the folk scene Laïs (Belgium ) Lluis Llach (Spain) and Pyx Lax (Greece). In 2007, she appeared as part of the Nokia Night of the Proms.

The group has been involved for quite some time politically and with social projects, such as with the establishment of Corsica Foundation.
